Overview of the Trilogy

"The Eternal Within":

First, we must review the concepts, “theory,” and Course principles to understand the teaching. One must first know the problem to understand why the healing is how it is. There is much to understand about why the problem is the problem and why the solution is the solution. Otherwise, we’ll try to resolve our conflicts by means that do not work, which is our current paradigm (generally speaking). With the exception of the last two chapters, the primary emphasis here is not on directly applying the teaching, although it’s indirectly implied and hinted at.

These chapters are fundamental to understanding the teaching. The concepts discussed may initially appear dark, serious, and complex. Still, the further we progress in this trilogy of books, the more we’ll learn that in practice, it’s all simple, gentle, light-hearted, and uncomplicated. The fact is the more light-hearted we can make it, the further we advance. The ego and its mechanisms may seem complex, but its undoing is ridiculously simple (but not easy).

Second Book:

Now that we’re equipped with an understanding of the Course’s theory and concepts, we can focus more on applying them in our daily lives and navigating the spiritual journey with its inevitable obstacles. Having previously explored the darkness, our focus now shifts to how to bring that perceived darkness into the light. Furthermore, we’ll closely examine the ego’s subtle presence within our relationships. While these discussions are rooted in theoretical aspects, they are now discussed through the lens of our human experiences and the challenges we encounter every day. While the first book primarily delved into the theory, this one is more grounded in our day-to-day experience.

Third Book:

Spirituality, no matter how profound, often faces a stark reality–how do we navigate the labyrinth of confusion that our earthly existence presents? This third book provides insights into bridging spirituality to our constant perception of problems and conflicts beyond just relationships and feelings, which were the main focus of the previous books. This exploration shows you that A Course in Miracles can even be quite practical and relevant to our day-to-day lives. The emphasis lies in maintaining inner peace amidst the challenges of decision-making, time management, financial considerations, and life’s inevitable anxieties. The focus is on addressing our mental struggles without resorting to typical self-help approaches full of endless “to-dos.” (True spirituality transcends actions; it resides within the heart). This book aims to illuminate this aspect, thus completing the multifaceted areas the Course touches upon.

The following is an excerpt from the preface of "The Eternal Within":

“The Eternal Within' is the first book of a trilogy intended to provide a comprehensive explanation of the spiritual document 'A Course in Miracles.' As many students of the 'Course' have already discovered, it is almost bound to be misunderstood unless you pay attention to the two levels at which it is written. Unfortunately, even most Course teachers misunderstand the teaching. I can, therefore, only recommend studying the Course material of a few teachers, such as Dr. Kenneth Wapnick, and the work of his foundation, Bob Rosenthal and Gary Renard, to name the more famous ones. (I believe what I express aligns with the teaching, but you are free to verify it for yourself).

But even if you understand the teaching, the practical application of it in real-life situations can be confusing since our experiences present us with myriad of problems and challenges. Therefore, in this trilogy, I will endeavor to explain the teaching from a theoretical point of view and then clarify how we can integrate it into our daily lives.

I’ve crafted this first book in the series to be accessible to both newcomers to the Course or non-duality (spirituality) and long-time students. (The only real prerequisite you need to make this teaching helpful is the willingness to end suffering, regardless of what you believe to be true). The first book is about the theory of the Course, but I have tried to embed it in a practical context to make it more comprehensible and useful. The second book in the series focuses on the application and common challenges encountered along the journey. It also expands on the theory with new topics and perspectives based on the foundational knowledge imparted in the first book. The third book focuses on integrating the Course principles into the more 'earthly' challenges of our everyday lives so that the understanding is truly implemented."
